Benefits Of After School Activities

Are 課外活動 important? After a long time without these kinds of activities, we’ve realized how crucial time to relax is for our kids and families.

This is a time of excitement for the field of education after school. There is a change from last year’s experience: fortunately the after-school programs are back, and we’ve made it easier for families to be involved in various activities and clubs outside of the hours of school. Chess, robotics, yoga for families or trail running and many more are now available in our Afterschool Hub, which helps to improve learning, enhance the development of social, emotional and cognitive abilities, encourage healthy lifestyles, develop the development of new talents, and create an environment that is safe and secure for youth and children.

After a whole year of avoiding these activities, we’ve discovered how important time off and after-school activities is important for families and their children. We’re not the only people who think this. According to various researchers and authors, effective afterschool programs don’t just provide education and learning environments, but also bring more advantages for families, children and the communities.

Learn about the six main advantages of taking part in afterschool programs

1-Strengthen lifelong education at any age:

An after-school program that is well-designed can be a beneficial time for learning. This is an enormous advantage, especially for children who think and learn differently. According to Gardner the human being is not created with the full range of knowledge they’ll ever need. Thus, practice and experience are essential. For this reason, an afterschool program with a wide offer of activities that can foster multiple intelligences (linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical…) and offer your child a variety of ways to learn is a good way to set your child up for success. What kinds of intelligence do you want to help your child develop?

2. Improve brain function and school performance:

Involvement in afterschool activities is directly related to improved functioning of the brain and higher school performance. A recent study carried out by researchers at University of Illinois University of Illinois and published in the journal Pediatrics found that elementary school children who exercised for an hour per day in an after-school program had higher cognitive abilities and improved their focus over children who didn’t engage in vigorous physical activities.

3. Improve emotional and social abilities:

There is evidence growing that the emotional and social skills that children and adolescents learn in after-school programs could be a factor in their academic success and throughout their lives. These are known as “life skills” the valuable abilities range the ability to communicate and problem solving using critical thinking, self-awareness , or assertiveness. Children learn to be part of a team and become self-reliant.

Additionally, after-school programs provide an ideal environment for this type of learning through social interaction, with small groups, a sense that you are connected and opportunities to build solid bonds with peers of the same or older age group…

4. Promote healthy habits:

Active children become active adults. A physically active lifestyle throughout life is an essential element of good health and wellbeing. There is evidence that suggests that high levels of activity in early childhood can “track” into the peak of activity in early adulthood. In particular, researchers have discovered that high-quality after-school programs can be a significant factor in children’s physical activities.

-Boost new talents

In addition to the bell, children might be more inclined to experiment with new things as they discover new passions, and take on risks that are positive. This will increase self-esteem as well as self-awareness. Psychologists frequently stress the importance of knowing as much as you can about yourself in order to discover your interests in your life.

6-Provide a secure and supportive environment

Positive interactions with other kids in the afterschool clubs or the hub help to build a sense and acceptance. The school provides a safe and positive environment in which children can spend their remaining hours of the day engaged and productive. Furthermore, keeping children engaged will help them avoid engaging in risky behaviours. This is a great benefit for parents who work, and are able to breathe a sigh relief and finish the day with a quality childcare at the school your child attends.
