A circular connector is a connector that has a cylindrical base structure and a circular mating area. It is classified as category 5 in the interconnection classification and is used to interconnect devices. It includes radio frequency coaxial connectors and low-frequency circular connectors. The circular connector’s cylindrical design is more durable and stronger than any other form.
Characteristics of circular connector
Most of the threads used to connect circular connectors’ sockets and plugs are made from threads. It can have as many as two to hundreds of terminals, and has high reliability and small size. It can be used to connect electronic devices via cable.
The basic structure for the circular connector
1. Get in touch with pin
To complete the electrical connection function, the contact pin is the central part of the circular connector. A contact pair is generally composed of a male and female contact pins. The electrical connection can be made by inserting the male and female contact pins.
2. Possession
There are two types of accessories: structural accessories and installation accessories. Structural accessories include positioning pins and clamp rings, coupling rings and sealing rings, guide pins as well as positioning keys, cable clamps and gaskets. Mounting accessories include bolts, screws and nuts, as well as coils, bolts and bolts. Many accessories come in both common and standard parts.
3. Insulator
Sometimes called a mounting plate or base, the insulator can also be known as an insulator. Its purpose is to place the contact pieces in the desired position and spacing and to ensure insulation between the shell and contact pieces.
4. Shell
The outer shell of the circular connector is known as the shell. It protects the pins and the built-in insulating mount plate mechanically.
There are advantages and disadvantages to circular connectors
Advantage: Circular connectors can be used in applications that require stronger terminals. Because of their cylindrical shape, they are resistant to mechanical turbulence as well as impact damage.
Advantages: The surface of the circular connector has a limited surface area, which limits the placement of sockets and pins.
Connectors with rectangular faces are able to mount more contacts, with a greater spacing and greater contact area.
Application for circular connector
The circular connector’s cylindrical structure has a natural strength and higher strength-to weight ratio than any other. Standard machine tools can easily process it. It is easy to seal, insert and disengage. It has a simple and solid locking mechanism. It has been developed over ten years and is highly reliable. To interconnect components and cables, multi-contact connectors are required. The first choice is the circular connector.
